The above quote rings true for those of us wondering if what they are doing, what they have started, holds any true significance. Whether you are religious or not, this quote holds merit.

I learned recently of the true importance of starting. Of beginning. In essence, it is an act of creation, of things not only external but more importantly internal.

When we begin something, we become someone new in the process. Unseen transformations take place that we do not see initially, but they are happening, and with enough time, if we persist, we will witness these changes, perhaps even perceiving them as “aha!” moments.

To start is to embark upon a journey never before done by oneself, even if that means starting again on something we once left behind, we gain new insights in the process and see details that once eluded us.

We must also remember that the significance of what we choose to embark upon should truly matter to us and us alone. We must be careful not to compare what, where, and when we start to others, especially if we are learning from them. Our journeys are our own, and though many will enter our lives and assist us along the way, it is ultimately up to us to decide our beginnings, our paths, and our destinations. The things that are important to us.

No matter the size of our beginnings, what is truly great is the act of beginning.

The day of small beginnings is the path to grand rewards and adventures. The likes of which we could never know if we had never started.
