“One can never consent to creep when one feels compelled to soar.”

— Helen Keller

What are these compulsions? Impulses, thoughts, desires ever pulling us in directions of which we cannot fully explain?

They nag at us. Sometimes often. Sometimes here and there, perhaps once in a blue moon, but they exist. And they cannot be denied.

Our callings. We know what they are, or we at least have an idea. An inclination. They have a message for us:

“You cannot escape me. I will never leave you alone. Not until you fulfill me and even then, I will be here until your final day. No matter what you or anyone else thinks of me, I am forever part of you. I can and will make you whole. Make you soar beyond your wildest dreams.”

It is unfortunate that many of us today as well as those that have gone before have crept instead of soared. Followed the desires and paths of others instead of our own. This is a terrible injustice, yet we still have time to change things should we desire to. Remember to “never despise the day of small beginnings.”

Do not give in to the stigma of “there being enough or plenty of people doing what you desire to do.” In the end, YOU must do it if you feel that is your path. Whether it be one or several paths. It is your responsibility to explore them, pursue them, fulfill them until your final day! As one of my favorite (Latin) proverbs states “Live your own life, you will surely die your own death.”

There is no shortage of people doing things they hate, living lives they would rather not. Consenting to creep.

We must not be so quick to fail ourselves, but we must be ever ready and steadfast in our convictions to SOAR!
